Box Office Update: This weekend "Hannah Montana: The Movie" landed #8 with $6.4 million, in the US bring it to a total of 65.6 million. Next Friday it'll be released in the UK so fingers crossed it does just as well there!

Miley Cyrus reads Shakespeare

Miley Cyrus performed Shakespeare sonnets to prepare for 'Hannah Montana: The Movie'. Director Peter Chelsom made the 16-year-old star follow drama school teaching techniques to keep her focused on her scenes, including avidly studying the Bard's famous works.
He said: "We did stuff before we started filming that was just the kind of stuff you'd do at drama school, you know. Did I give her a detention? No. I made her read a sonnet though. A Shakespeare sonnet. She said, 'Oh no I can't.' I said, 'Let's do it because it'll be the most difficult thing you'll ever do.' We did all that kind of stuff. It was remarkable. ... Read More ...

CYRUS TURNS TEACHER FOR THE DAY

HANNAH MONTANA actress MILEY CYRUS thrilled youngsters at a British school when she visited their classroom to give them a lesson on how to be a star.
The 16-year-old was in the U.K. to promote Hannah Montana: The Movie last week when she popped into a London school on Friday. The starstruck students were in awe and bombarded the singer/actress with questions about how she handles her fame and life in the spotlight, reports ContactMusic. And in return Cyrus taught the enraptured group the dance routine to Hoedown Throwdown, which features in the smash movie.

Miley made one more stop on her Europe tour, this time at Munich for the Germany Premeire of Hannah Montana: The Movie. She looked really gorgeous in a white Temperley dress, Dsquared heels and Ippolita jewelry. The movie premieres in Germany on June 1st, but selected fans watched the film in special showings in several cities at the time of the Premiere. Super fun, isnt it? MILEY CYRUS has stepped in to quash rumours she has revived her romance with ex-boyfriend NICK JONAS - insisting they are just "best friends".
Speculation about the former couple - who split in 2007 - began to brew earlier this month (Apr09) when Cyrus teamed up with the Jonas Brothers to record a new song.
She says, "We aren't back together. I don't think people know how to make an ex-boyfriend into a best friend and it seems impossible. But when you have known each other as long as we have - we did have such a great relationship. Teen actress Miley Cyrus was seen looking glamorous as she took to the red carpet at the London premiere of 'Hannah Montana The Movie'. Cyrus, 16, looked like a 26-year-old star in the figure hugging, jewel-encrusted frock, and skyscraper heels she was wearing.

Miley Wins Compassionate Citizen Award

Teen star Miley Cyrus has been praised for being kind to Hollywood chickens. The Hannah Montana sensation reportedly took pity on chickens used on the film set of her latest movie. Cyrus, 16, was keen to see the birds lead a happy life that she took them back to her familys rural Tennessee home. The action has earned Cyrus a Compassionate Citizen Award from the youth division of animal charity PETA. "Mileys heart is as big as her smile," said Dan Shannon, PETAs assistant director of Youth Outreach and Campaigns. "We hope that her act of compassion will inspire her fans to be kind to animals too." Cyrus will get a framed certificate and card from the charity.

Teen icon Miley Cyrus, who features in the big-screen adaptation of the hit teen sitcom 'Hannah Montana', describes it as a superhero movie for girls and says she doesn't mind being seen as a 'role model'. At the same time, she wants fans to learn from her mistakes.
"I definitely want to be a role model; I hope I am. I want people to be able to look up to me because that is part of my job and that's what I love.
