Miley Cyrus Spoofs Her Tennessee Roots In Teen Choice Awards Performance

Disney star danced around 'blinged-out trailer park' set, took spin on stripper pole.
UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Although the 2009 Teen Choice Awards left celebrities and stargazers alike with plenty to talk about, none of the evening's events mixed sarcasm, celebrity and old-fashioned entertainment as effectively as the unlike-anything-you've-ever-seen performance of one Miss Miley Cyrus.
Taking the stage to perform her newly released single, "Party in the U.S.A.," the 16-year-old superstar danced around a "trailer trash" set, tongue firmly in cheek, as she spoofed her Tennessee upbringing and even took a whirl around a stripper-like pole on top of an ice-cream pushcart.
"Tonight I'm performing 'Party in the U.S.A.,' which is my new single and which I'm super-excited about," Miley told MTV News before the taping of the awards, which will air on Fox on Monday night (August 10). "I'm about to go out on tour, so all my music is being aired out right now."
Miley was also excited to discuss the concept of her performance, which had her giving shout-outs to Britney Spears — moments before she'd come back onstage to present the pop princess with her Ultimate Choice Award.
"[My] performance tonight is funny, but I wanted it to be about [something more]," Miley explained with sincerity. " 'Party in the U.S.A.' is an all-American song, and so I come out tonight and I'm literally in a trailer park. It's a blinged-out trailer park."
Cyrus, her father Billy Ray and others in her group planned out the big number, which she told us was fun but something that had a much deeper meaning to her. "I'm like, 'This is to represent where I am from. I'm so proud of it,' " Miley explained. "All the girls trying to be Hollywood and stuff with their big glasses, me shooing them away.
"I love it," Miley explained of her performance, one of the most memorable moments of the star-studded evening. "It's about my roots."

Miley Cyrus' New Song 'Party In The USA' Leaks Online

Miley Cyrus' new song "Party in the USA" has been leaked online and will reportedly appear on a forthcoming Wal-Mart exclusive EP that will debut along with the starlet's Max Azria clothing line, according to Idolator.
The song, which is scheduled to make its radio debut Monday, according to New York Post blog Popwrap, is an uptempo track with semiautobiographical lyrics that revolve around Miley's move from Tennessee to Los Angeles. The song also references Britney Spears and Jay-Z as artists who the song's protagonist is listening to.

Hairspray stars Zac Efron and Brittany Snow are set to reteam for a remake of cheesy surf movie Gidget, according to new industry reports. Miley Cyrus is on board as waverider Gidget in the project, with Efron slated to play her love interest, according to MovieHole.net. Sandra Dee originated the role of Gidget in Paul Wendkos's 1959 original and Sally Field took over the role of Gidget in a short-lived TV series.

Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus might have bagged the lead role in Wings, but rumor has it that she'll be donning a different pair of flyers sometime soon. It's been reported that Warner Bros. executives are considering her for a role in the sequel to The Dark Knight.
Hollyscoop reveals that the 16-year-old Disney princess had already auditioned for the role of Batgirl. An insider said that she "stunned" producers, impressing them by dressing up in a full batsuit.
That's certainly a huge leap for her, if she manages to seal the deal. When Mark McLeod was booked into the Chatham County jail, officers there had no idea the Augusta area man claimed he was marrying teen star Miley Cyrus. They didn't know Mr. McLeod believes her father, Billy Ray Cryus, is ready to welcome the 53-year-old into the family as a son-in-law. They didn't know, Chatham Sheriff's officials say, because they were never told by Tybee Island police.
